Indie Wednesday: Volume One

Posted by Greg on Apr 25, 2018 in Music

While Americana and roots-rock remain our bread-and-butter we do like diving into the waters of indie-rock. So today’s feature is devoted to three outfits making some noise that we think are worth a deeper dive. Read more…

Bloodshot Signs William Elliott Whitmore

While we try not to be partial over here at SITH, when it comes to record labels, none are held in the esteem that we hold Bloodshot Records. The label that launched Whiskeytown, Old 97s, Robbie Fulks, Neko Case, Alejandro Escovedo and others, has done very little, if any wrong in its 20+ year history. To date we can’t think of a single release of theirs that hasn’t left us floored in some capacity. Read more…

Song of the Day: A Valley Son – “Warm Mexican Beer”

Let’s face it, it’s late April, so let’s welcome spring as much as we can. There’s no better song to do that with than the absolutely incredible “Warm Mexican Beer,” a hazy, humid and deeply affecting effort from this absolutely fantastic NYC outfit. This quartet is still new to the game (released their debut in 2017) but with a song this good, they’re destined for stadiums, magazine covers and hordes of ticket sales. Fans of My Morning Jacket, Wilco and The Avett Brothers will find a lot to like here. Head to the jump to hear this absolutely indelible and utterly sensational slow-burner. Read more…

Song of the Day: Joseph III “Jesus”

We’ll admit it. We’re a sucker for alt-country and most definitely a sucker for covers. Heck our favorite book of 2017 was Ray Padgett’s Cover Me. But as much as we like alt-country and cover songs, SITH gets even more giddy when said cover is a religious or spiritual song. Read more…
