Band of the Day: Gone West (Colbie Caillat’s new supergroup)

Maybe we’re just suckers, but we here at SITH are huge fans of Colbie Caillat. Not sure what it is but her songs come on and very rarely do we turn the dial. So it was a no-brainer that we checked out her new Nashville-based country-pop effort Gone West.

The supergroup features 2x Grammy Award-winner Caillat and her multi-platinum songwriting partner Jason Reeves, as well as 4x Hawaiian Music Award winner Justin Kawika Young and ACM and CMT-nominated artist Nelly Joy.

Their latest single “What Could’ve Been” is slated to be released digitally on June 7, with an impact date of July 15. That same day the band is also scheduled to make an appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan. Mining the same sonic territory as Dawes’ North Hills and The Eagles’ Hotel California, “What Could’ve Been” is a surefire smash that just might be the best country song released this summer.

Already championed by the likes of Billboard and CMT, Gone West is buttressed by four-part harmonies and a pop sheen that’s impossible to dislike. In short, Gone West is a band that demands attention. With sold-out shows at NYC’s Gramercy Theater and LA’s The Troubadour behind them, this is a band with tons of positive momentum and some of the best stuff we’ve heard this year.

Head here to listen to the Tides EP, which dropped in January of this year and head here to see the video for the title track “Gone West.”
