One of our favorite records of 2008 Oh My God, Charlie Darwin (OMGCD) is celebrating a milestone this year. Well actually, the milestone was last year, but the band that wrote it, The Low Anthem, decided this year would be the year for a re-issue.

Though their sound has changed considerably from the hushed bedroom folk of OMGCD, the band remains an indie effort very much worth pursuing. Veering towards the line of Margot + The Nuclear So and So’s, Wheat and Spoon, The Low Anthem are arguably the greatest band in Rhode Island musical history.

A statement from the band about the re-issue of OMGCD is below.

We self-manufactured and released the original recordings when the seas were 1.2 inches lower and the world was full of CD players. How things have changed. Now, ten years later, we’re happy to let you know Joyful Noise Recordings is reissuing the original master! It will be on vinyl for the first time. Electric blue vinyl.

We are probably painting and gluing up the packages as you read this. They are quite handsome, numbering 1000. The 10yr reissue comes with an additional special vinyl flexi disc featuring some outtake materials and a sleeve of photographs from the recording time.

The LPs are available for presale here and we’ll have them at shows until they sell out. It’s bittersweet that these songs about the rising seas and decaying order still resonate. Looking back we are filled with gratitude to you for helping to draw them out into the world. That’s all for now. We hope to catch up with you soon.

Those hoping to see the band on tour have two chances before year’s end:

Nov. 21, Jammin Java, Vienna, VA
Nov. 22, Le Poisson Rouge, New York, NY
