Films We Are Most Stoked to See This Summer/Fall

The Many Saints of Newark
-Sopranos prequel
-Gandolfini’s son in starring role as young Tony.
-I didn’t even watch much of the Sopranos and this trailer has me hooked.

Annette
-Adam Driver, Cannes success; Amazon Prime.
-film looks intense but I am ready for the investment.

Joe Bell
-heartwrenching, based on true story; same people who wrote Brokeback Mountain; a father played by Mark Wahlberg tries to find himself after his gay son commits suicide in small town Wyoming.

The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun
-the latest from Wes Anderson, been waiting 3 years for this film.
-as a former Newsday journalist and now freelance journalist this film revisits the halcyon days of journalism before an orange-faced man re-altered the scope and breadth of journalism.

Old
-the latest from M. Night Shyamalan; hard to go wrong with Gael Garcia Bernal in the cast.

Last Night in Soho
-the latest from Edgar Wright of Baby Driver, starring Anya Taylor Joy of The Queen’s Gambit, that’s her singing “Downtown” by Petula Clark in the trailer

The Sparks Brothers
-I cannot love this film more. I’ve watched the trailer over a dozen times and it leaves me wanting more every
single time.

Final Account
-sure, why not? Every ow and then you have to leave your comfort zone.

Val
-Amazon Prime doc about Val Kilmer taken from his home videos, big hit at the festival circuit, will be a big hit most likely in the SITH household.

Reminiscence
-latest from Hugh Jackman, feels like a Christopher Nolan film. Might be too saccharine in places, but we’ll give it a whirl.

Limbo
-I love everything about this film. Much like the Sparks Brothers, I just keep watching the trailer over and over.

Night House
-a creepy film that was a big hit on the festival circuit. Not a genre we usually dabble in but festival successes will always get first glance from me.

Above Suspicion
-not usually my kind of film, but my gut tells me to give it a whirl. If you can’t trust your gut, then what’s the point?
