Nathan Leigh Jones Returns From Hiatus

Two weeks ago, Australian singer-songwriter Nathan Leigh Jones penned a blog post that literally shook me to my core.

In it, the musician detailed in painfully honest detail why he walked away from being a singer-songwriter and why after such a long absence, he’s ready to get back to work. Jones who grew up in a conservative Christian household in so many words said the pressure of being a Christian singer-songwriter was something that led to a crisis of faith and a sense of unfamiliarity. The blog post is one of the most candid and sincere posts written by an artist in the last couple years. Former Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s frontman Richard Edwars penned one that’s equally compelling, as did the highly publicized Ke$ha. But, Jones is the first one that tackles the spiritual side of songwriting and the post is one that should not be overlooked. Seeing as Jones has not released an album in four years and a non-holiday project in six years, all of us us over here at SITH are eagerly awaiting new music.
