Bloodshot Signs William Elliott Whitmore

While we try not to be partial over here at SITH, when it comes to record labels, none are held in the esteem that we hold Bloodshot Records. The label that launched Whiskeytown, Old 97s, Robbie Fulks, Neko Case, Alejandro Escovedo and others, has done very little, if any wrong in its 20+ year history. To date we can’t think of a single release of theirs that hasn’t left us floored in some capacity.

In an effort to prove that point, they’ve signed William Elliott Whitmore, a veteran troubadour who is arguably one of the most criminally underrated singer-songwriters in the country. Whitmore’s debut album with Bloodshot is due out later this year, but it is not his first foray with the label. To date, he’s released a 7-inch split with Esme Patterson and participated in the fantastic 20 year Bloodshot retrospective While No One Was Looking. Signings like this continue to prove why Bloodshot is our very favorite label. To all the other labels out there, sorry, we’re not sorry.
