We’ve been digging on “In the Basement,” the first single from Peter More’s debut LP Beautiful Disrepair, which is due out June 29. The single, as well as the album, was produced by Steely Dan frontman Donald Fagen, and actually represents the first full-length from a new artist that Fagen has produced. The song itself has a slight tinge of Steely Dan but feels distinctly modern, relevant and wholly original. Buttressed by horns, organ and some nuanced guitar work, “In the Basement” is an absolute goldmine. More and Fagen met in the Central Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende, where both vacation often. The album was recorded in San Miguel de Allende, Fort Worth, New York City and Woodstock, NY. With a song this good, we’re anxiously awaiting June 29 and the rest of Beautiful Disrepair.
