There’s no easy way to say this: Unsolved Mysteries was probably one of the greatest TV shows of all time and nobody seems to give it the recognition it deserves. Go ahead and disagree, it won’t change our mind. Remember friends, this is the show that started Matthew McConaughey’s career. As for why it was so great, well that’s easy. The show was frightening, topical and almost always thought-provoking. Long before Dateline NBC, 20/20, 48 Hours and the ID Channel, there was Unsolved Mysteries, a show that tackled everything from UFOs to ghosts to miracles to murder to missing persons and beyond.

To this day the show still maintains a cult following (we’re part of that cult following) and can currently be seen on Amazon Prime. Debuting in 1987, Unsolved Mysteries was hosted by gravelly-voiced Robert Stack whose ever-present trench coat and disarming delivery helped make the show one of the creepiest things on TV. After being rebooted on Spike TV with new host Dennis Farina, the show floundered, only to be rescued most recently by Amazon. Box sets of the series are still in high demand on Amazon and the hordes of fans is probably in the millions.

Included in this lot of fans is record label Terror Vision, an imprint of Savannah’s Graveface Records. The label has launched the release of Unsolved Mysteries: Ghosts/Hauntings/The Unexplained, a multi-faceted musical project featuring the music of Unsolved Mysteries. The cost-effective option is the single LP featuring Terror Vision’s favorite ghost-related cues from the show as well as its multiple theme songs. The more expensive, but ultimately more satisfying second option is a triple LP that contains every single cue written for the show’s ghost segments as well as the multiple theme songs, end credits and more. The single LP will be available via mail order and record stores while the triple LP will be mail order only.

The release of the LP is important for a few reasons. First and foremost, this is the first time the score and theme has been available in any format beyond DVD or VHS. Secondly, the LP features audio pulled from the original tapes remastered for modern media outlets. Lastly, the triple LP features liner notes from the show’s creator and composer as well as Graveface Records CEO Ryan Graveface of Black Moth Super Rainbow.
